Billing

Use the Billing page to activate a plan, buy credit top-ups, choose how the organization is funded, manage billing details, set trial reminders, and monitor credit usage.

Open Billing

You can open billing in two ways:

  • Click Open billing from the trial banner on the dashboard.
  • Open Settings and switch to the Billing tab.

Update Your Plan

In the Billing tab, the Current Plan card shows your active plan or trial state. Click Update or Manage Billing to change your subscription. The plan dialog shows the plans currently available for your organization.

Complete Checkout

After choosing a plan, complete checkout through the Stripe-hosted checkout page. Select the currency, enter the billing email, and start the trial or subscription.

Billing Actions

The Billing page also includes actions for managing billing information and reminders.

  • Manage Billing: opens the billing portal for subscription and payment management.
  • Billing Contact: lets you customize the billing contact information shown for your organization.
  • Trial reminder: sends a reminder before the trial expires.

Usage and Credits

The Usage This Period section shows how credits are consumed during the current billing period. It breaks usage down by product, event count, credit cost, credits consumed, and overage.

The top bar also shows the remaining credit balance, so you can monitor available credits while navigating the dashboard.

Credit Top-Ups

The Credit Top-Ups card sells one-time credit packs. Pick a pack, complete the Stripe checkout, and the credits land on your balance as soon as the payment completes — no subscription change and no proration.

Each pack shows how many credits it grants, its price, and its validity:

  • Valid for N months — unused credits from that pack expire at the end of the window.
  • Never expires — the credits stay on the balance until you spend them.

Top-ups are additive: buying a pack never replaces the credits you already have, and it works alongside a subscription plan as well as on its own. Zyphe can also provision a bespoke pack visible only to your organization; ask support if the public packs do not fit your volume.

A pack must be denominated in your organization's billing currency; one in another currency is refused at checkout, because the credits it granted would not be visible to the balance reconciliation.

Top-ups are a production-only operation, so switch the dashboard out of sandbox to see the card.

Funding Mode

The Funding Mode card states how the organization pays for what it consumes, and holds the switch between the two self-serve modes.

ModeHow it funds usageWhere it comes from
PlanA subscription plan grants credits at the start of every billing periodReached by paying for a plan through checkout, not selectable here
Pay as you goUsage continues past zero credits and the overage is invoiced in arrearsConfigured by the Zyphe team, contact support
Manual top-upsFunded by credit packs you buy yourself; usage stops at zeroThe default, and one end of the switch on this card
Automatic top-upsFunded by credit packs that refill themselves from a card on file before the balance runs outThe other end of the switch, then configured on its own card

Two constraints apply to the switch:

  • A subscription plan blocks it. Automatic top-ups are only available without a plan: cancel the current one from the billing portal, or through support, first. A plan attached and awaiting payment blocks the change too, until that checkout is completed or cancelled.
  • Pay as you go and automatic top-ups are mutually exclusive. Turning automatic top-ups on clears any pay-as-you-go configuration and cancels the metered subscription behind it, for which Stripe issues a final invoice covering the usage recorded so far.

Automatic Top-Ups

Automatic top-ups (auto-recharge) charge a card on file for a fixed credit pack before your balance reaches zero, so verifications keep running without anyone watching the balance.

Set it up

  1. Switch the funding mode to Automatic top-ups. The Automatic Top-Ups card appears once the organization is in that mode.
  2. Add card. This authorizes a payment method only — nothing is charged when you add it.
  3. Configure the three settings and save:
SettingWhat it does
ThresholdA top-up starts once the balance drops to this many credits
Credit packWhich pack to charge. It must grant more credits than the threshold, otherwise the balance would sit at the threshold after every top-up and trigger the next one immediately
Daily limitMost top-ups allowed in any rolling 24 hours (1–50, 5 by default). A backstop against a runaway integration draining the card

Set the threshold high enough to cover what you consume while a card payment settles: the credits above the threshold are what keep serving traffic in the meantime.

What it does not do

Zyphe never extends credit. The balance never goes negative and there is no reserve: an organization that reaches zero stops there, exactly as it would without automatic top-ups. Continuity is bought with a generous threshold, not with an overdraft. If you want usage to continue past zero and be invoiced afterwards, that is pay-as-you-go instead.

Monitoring it

The card reports Last top-up, Top-ups in the last 24h, and Next attempt, plus an Active / Paused badge. Reaching the daily limit is not a failure: top-ups resume on their own as soon as the 24-hour window frees a slot.

When a charge fails

A failed charge is retried after 1 hour, then 6 hours, then 24 hours. After three consecutive failures automatic top-ups are paused and the organization is emailed. Paused means paused — credits already on the balance are still spendable, and manual top-ups still work.

Pause reasonWhat happenedHow to resume
Automatic top-ups are pausedThe card was declined several times in a rowAdd a working card, or buy a top-up by hand
Your bank needs to confirm this paymentThe card needs confirmation that cannot be given off-sessionPay the invoice linked on the card to complete that top-up
No usable card on fileThe card was expired or unusable and has been removedAdd a card

Turning automatic top-ups off returns the organization to manual top-ups and clears the threshold, pack, and daily limit. Credits already purchased are unaffected.

Sandbox Usage

Sandbox and production share one credit balance. A sandbox verification costs the same credits as the equivalent production verification, with one exception: runs whose identity belongs to your own organization (a team member, or any address on a member's email domain) are recorded at zero credits.

The usage table follows the dashboard's sandbox toggle, so switch environments to see the other side's counters. The remaining balance in the top bar is the same number in both.

Because the balance is shared, sandbox consumption counts towards the automatic top-up threshold and can trigger a real card charge.
